Indore Tragedy: CM Yadav Highlights Electrical Safety Issues
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Indore, March 19 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday raised alarms regarding the usage of electrical devices, such as air conditioners, in confined spaces. He stressed the importance of routine inspections of electrical systems in both residential and commercial buildings.
The Chief Minister highlighted the necessity for increased vigilance during the charging of electric vehicles (EVs), especially during nighttime, urging families to prioritize their safety. He noted that while contemporary conveniences offer comfort, they also require careful management.
Yadav's comments followed a heartbreaking fire incident in Indore, which claimed the lives of eight family members after flames erupted in a three-storey residence due to an explosion at an EV charging point situated outside the property on Wednesday.
In light of this tragic event, the state administration, in collaboration with specialists, plans to devise strategies aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future, as communicated by the Chief Minister's Office late Thursday.
During his visit to Indore, where he attended various events, Chief Minister Yadav extended his condolences to the victims' families.
“I had the opportunity to meet with the bereaved family today. We collectively mourn the immense sorrow experienced by the Pugalia family. I pray that the departed souls find peace, and I wish the family the strength to heal from this deep loss. An investigation is currently in progress, and necessary measures will be undertaken to avert such tragedies going forward,” Yadav remarked.
Saurabh Pugalia, the eldest son of Manoj Pugalia, whose house was engulfed in flames, informed the Chief Minister that the fire originated not from the EV charging but from a short circuit at an electrical pole.
Saurabh also claimed that the fire brigade's response was delayed, suggesting that earlier intervention could have saved lives.
The devastating fire on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including two minors, after a significant blaze swept through a residential building following an explosion from an electric vehicle charging outside.
Law enforcement identified the deceased as Tanmay (7), Rashi Sethia (12), Simran Pugalia (30), Tinu (35), Suman Sethia (60), Vijay Sethia (65), Chhotu Sethia (22), and Manoj Pugalia (65), the homeowner.
