JD(U) MP Jha Praises Government's Management of West Asia Crisis
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha commented on the current turmoil in West Asia on Thursday, asserting that the crisis is not a result of India's actions or its government, yet the Centre's handling of the situation has been exceptional.
Addressing the media, Jha highlighted that this crisis has persisted for over a month, impacting numerous regions globally. “We have witnessed restrictions imposed in various areas, and some regions are experiencing situations akin to emergencies or lockdowns. Furthermore, fuel prices have surged in neighboring countries,” he remarked.
He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been proactive in addressing the issue since its onset. “From the outset, the Prime Minister has discussed the situation in Parliament and at all-party meetings. The government, under the Prime Minister's vigilant monitoring, has managed to maintain control over the situation,” Jha stated.
Jha also pointed out that while the government is implementing necessary measures, reports of panic buying are emerging. “We are hearing that some individuals are stockpiling essential goods out of fear. Concurrently, the Opposition is contributing to the confusion surrounding the situation,” he alleged.
Despite the challenges, he expressed optimism about the public's confidence in the government. “People are aware of the circumstances and trust Prime Minister Modi. We are actively importing fuel and seeking new sources for supplies, which is a crucial development,” he stated.
Reiterating his message, Jha stressed that this is a global crisis. “This is not an issue instigated by India or its government. Nevertheless, the government's commendable management of the situation stands out. I have frequently mentioned that the Opposition often seeks to capitalize on crises,” he added.
In the meantime, West Asia remains fraught with escalating tensions, as US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran have incited retaliatory missile and drone strikes throughout the region. Iran has reportedly struck US military bases in Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, while Israel continues its operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The ongoing conflict is beginning to influence global energy markets, with disruptions in oil production from Saudi Arabia and Qatar raising concerns about supply through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz.
