Union Minister of State Sanjay Seth participated in the voting process, casting his ballot alongside his family.
Speaking on the voter turnout, he commented, “The excitement across the state has been incredible since the morning. People are eager to elect their third tier of government, and I anticipate that this year’s turnout will surpass previous records.”
Voters highlighted the significance of their participation. One local resident stated, “We expect our city’s municipal corporation to operate effectively and maintain cleanliness. Despite our commitments at the Central government office, we prioritized voting this morning.”
Jitender Chaudhary, the first voter from his ward, encouraged his fellow citizens to take their voting rights seriously. “My message to society is to cast your vote first, then enjoy refreshments. Choose capable candidates who will enhance community welfare — better schools, improved roads, effective drainage, and overall safety,” he told IANS.
Election officials reported that over 43.43 lakh voters, including more than 21 lakh women, are eligible to participate in the municipal elections across nine municipal corporations, 20 nagar parishads, and 19 nagar panchayats in the state.
Polling commenced at 7 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m., with stringent security measures in place and over 4,300 polling booths established, some classified as sensitive or hyper-sensitive to ensure a smooth voting process.
