A video showcasing the violent incident quickly gained traction on social media on Wednesday, sparking significant concerns regarding the safety of women in the area.
The suspect is identified as 29-year-old Naveen Kumar, residing in Billamaranahalli, located in the Yelahanka district of Bengaluru.
Initial inquiries indicated that the suspect and victim had connected through Instagram, which eventually led to a romantic relationship.
However, the victim recently blocked him on both her mobile and social media platforms.
According to police reports, the agitated suspect attempted to engage with the woman near her PG hostel. Following her rejection of his advances, he purportedly became confrontational and assaulted her.
The viral footage depicts Naveen arriving at the location in a car, attacking the woman, and subsequently fleeing in the same vehicle. During the assault, he is observed attempting to seize the victim's vanity bag, rifling through its contents, discarding it, and making his escape.
Authorities disclosed that the pair had initially connected via Instagram in 2024 and had been in a relationship. Throughout their time together, Naveen allegedly pressured the woman to maintain the relationship. Police also noted that financial disagreements had contributed to their conflicts.
