Shivanagowdru, expressed that his hope for justice regarding his son’s tragic death has intensified.
Speaking with reporters, Kashinath S. Shivanagowdru, also referred to as Kashinathaiah, shared with tears in his eyes, "My wife informed me about the cancellation of Darshan's bail. This development has fortified our belief in justice. We trust in the judicial system and the law. We are hopeful that our family will achieve justice in the Renukaswamy murder case."
He added, "When the High Court initially granted bail, we were apprehensive. However, the decision by the government and authorities to appeal this in the Supreme Court, alongside the resultant ruling, has renewed our faith in justice. I am grateful to the government and the efforts of the officials. This serves as a warning to all who engage in criminal activity," he stated.
According to family sources, while the Supreme Court was delivering the ruling, Kashinathaiah was in the puja room, offering special prayers.
Renukaswamy's wife, Sahana, remarked that everyone is equal under the law and those guilty of crimes should face punishment. "I believe this will occur. I am uncertain of the specific punishment the accused will receive, but I have entrusted this matter to God," she stated.
Renukaswamy's mother, Rathnaprabha, emphasized that all must respect the Supreme Court's verdict and that the trial should proceed swiftly. "With this ruling, our conviction in achieving justice for my son’s murder has been reinforced," she expressed.
When questioned about Darshan’s bail release and his subsequent trips abroad, she mentioned that such matters are for the law to decide, asserting that "whoever has committed a crime deserves punishment."
In response to these developments, Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy commented in Devanahalli, stating, "When the verdict was reserved, the Supreme Court showed doubts regarding the High Court's decision to grant bail, indicating that the bail of those accused in the fan murder case might be revoked."
He further noted that the Supreme Court had explicitly mentioned that the High Court had made an erroneous decision in this matter.
Addressing the Supreme Court's criticism of prison authorities, Minister Reddy stated, "There are numerous lapses within prisons, such as the use of mobile phones and various irregularities. Having been a Home Minister, I believe the prison system can only improve with the deployment of competent officers."
In a significant turn of events, the Supreme Court on Thursday revoked the bail of Kannada actor Darshan in connection with the fan murder case. The Bench mandated that authorities take him into custody immediately. A Bench composed of Justices R. Mahadevan and J.B. Pardiwala delivered the ruling, stating that the High Court's decision was flawed. The court directed that the process of witness trials be expedited, emphasizing that no individual, regardless of their status, is above the law.
Describing the ruling as a landmark decision, the Bench instructed that copies of the verdict be distributed to all High Courts and state governments. The court remarked that the accused had received “five-star” treatment in jail and indicated that the jail superintendent should face suspension.
Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were apprehended on June 11, 2024, on allegations of kidnapping and brutally murdering Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga.
