Karan Patel: Is There a Constant Fear of Replacement?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) Renowned television star Karan Patel has shared his thoughts on the challenges of maintaining relevance in the swift-moving landscape of Indian television.
When asked if he believes the industry gives actors sufficient time to breathe without falling into obscurity, Karan remarked to IANS: “To be honest, that’s not always the case.”
The 42-year-old actor noted the rapid pace of the small screen.
“Television evolves quickly, and there’s a persistent anxiety of being replaced,” he expressed, referring to his debut role in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii as Vigyat.
However, Karan, who gained prominence in the series Kasturi as Robbie Sabarwal, pointed out that impactful performances contribute to sustained relevance.
“I’ve come to realize that if your work resonates, taking a break won’t overshadow your presence. Sometimes, stepping back is essential for personal growth. The industry may not grasp this immediately, but true longevity comes from knowing when to pause as much as when to engage,” he elaborated.
Karan has also appeared in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kasamh Se. He made his hosting debut in 2008 with Kaho Na Yaar Hai and participated in the dance competition Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2013. He left Yeh Hai Mohabbatein in 2019, only to return in November of the same year.
His portrayal of Raman Kumar Omprakash Bhalla alongside co-star Divyanka T Dahiya was notable. In 2020, he joined the reality series Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 and played Rishabh Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, stepping in for Karan Singh Grover.
He is set to appear in The 50.
Produced by Banijay Asia, The 50 is an upcoming large-scale reality show in India. It will stream soon on JioHotstar and Colors, featuring a bold new format designed to shake up the Indian reality TV scene.
