Bengaluru, April 5 (NationPress) An intense scene unfolded in Kushalnagar town of Madikeri district following a demonstration by the Karnataka BJP unit concerning the suicide of a party worker.

After the Congress-led government dismissed the BJP’s request to name two MLAs in the FIR, BJP leaders attempted to conduct a protest with the body of the deceased worker outside the Deputy Superintendent of Police’s office. However, police detained everyone involved.

Among those detained were State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar, former MP Pratap Simha, and former Speaker K.G. Bopaiah, following a heated confrontation with law enforcement.

They were taken away in police vehicles, with hundreds of BJP supporters also being detained and transported in buses.

While in custody, Vijayendra condemned the Congress-led government, labeling it a "goonda government."

He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of acting arrogantly.

“We will not let this issue rest. The two MLAs are culpable. We know how to seek justice. They are close associates of CM Siddaramaiah. We will turn to the judiciary. This case should be assigned to the CBI,” he asserted.

He further claimed, “The police are merely puppets of the Congress government. All police stations have transformed into Congress party offices. Let the Congress-led government commit atrocities — we will not retreat. We will pursue justice through legal avenues.”

Vijayendra emphasized the necessity of including the names of the two Congress MLAs in the FIR.

Following the detention of BJP leaders and supporters, the family of the deceased BJP worker Vinay Somaiah transported his body back to his native village of Gonimaruru to carry out the final rites.

When asked about the inclusion of MLA A.S. Ponnanna along with MLA Manthar Gowda in the FIR, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah replied on Saturday, stating, “That cannot be done. We will not meet the BJP’s demands. The investigation will proceed, and those found guilty will face consequences.”

Vinay Somaiah, a resident of Madikeri district, reportedly took his own life at his office in Bengaluru, leaving behind a note on Friday.

In the note, he accused Congress leaders of harassment and named MLAs A.S. Ponnanna, Manthar Gowda, and Congress leader Thennira Maheena as responsible for his tragic decision. However, the Hennur police only registered an FIR naming Thennira Maheena.
