Karnataka BJP Questions Congress's Authority to Display B.R. Ambedkar's Image

Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 19 (NationPress) - The Karnataka faction of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has condemned the Congress's actions of staging protests while displaying photos of B.R. Ambedkar in the Legislative Assembly, claiming that the historic party has no moral authority to showcase Babasaheb's image.

Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, criticized the Congress by stating: "Congress members, who have repeatedly disrespected B.R. Ambedkar, lack the moral authority to display his image."

Addressing the media at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on Thursday following a walkout, he said: "The Congress purports to honor Dr. Ambedkar through posters. But what moral standing do they possess? What right do they have to hold his image?"

He accused the Congress of 'failing to provide even a small plot of land for B.R. Ambedkar's final rites when he died in Delhi'.

His remains were eventually transported to Maharashtra, Ashoka noted.

"When former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru passed away, ample land was dedicated in Delhi. Indira Gandhi received between 10 to 20 acres, and Rajiv Gandhi was allotted even 50 acres. However, when Dr. Ambedkar passed away, the Congress didn't provide even six feet of land. The blame lies with these Congress leaders," he emphasized.

"Due to this refusal, his final rites had to be conducted in Maharashtra," Ashoka reiterated. "The Congress bears the responsibility for this indignity," he asserted.

He questioned, "Indira Gandhi received a Bharat Ratna, Nehru was awarded a Bharat Ratna, and Rajiv Gandhi too was honored with a Bharat Ratna. But why was Dr. Ambedkar not given this honor? You display his image now, but why didn’t you recognize him with a Bharat Ratna?"

He firmly stated that the Congress had no right to hold Dr. Ambedkar's image.

Ashoka claimed that it was the BJP-led administration that conferred the Bharat Ratna upon B.R. Ambedkar and established five significant centers associated with him.
