Did Kerala Blasters Sign French Star Kevin Yoke on a Free Transfer?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kochi, Jan 26 (NationPress) The renowned Kerala Blasters, who have reached the finals three times, have successfully signed French talent Kevin Yoke on Monday, just in time for the upcoming Indian Super League 2025-26 (ISL) set to kick off on February 14.
Previously competing in Super League 2 in Greece, Yoke participated in nine matches for PAE Chania. The 29-year-old forward, born on June 23, 1996, in Clamart, France, specializes as a left winger but also exhibits proficiency on the right, showcasing his versatility across the attacking front.
Joining the Blasters on a free transfer for the upcoming season, Yoke marks the second addition to the roster. Earlier, the club secured German attacking midfielder Marlon Roos Trujillo for the entire season. These strategic signings aim to bolster the team and facilitate a strong comeback in the tournament.
“Kevin possesses qualities that align perfectly with our playing style. His skill in challenging defenders, movement in wide spaces, and professional experience will significantly enhance our attacking capabilities,” stated Kerala Blasters CEO Abhik Chatterjee in a club release.
Yoke expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Indian club, saying, “I am thrilled to become a part of Kerala Blasters and eagerly await meeting the team and commencing our work. I’m prepared to give my all to rise to the challenges ahead.”
Blasters FC has emerged as one of the most popular clubs in the ISL, having reached the finals on three occasions (2014, 2016, and 2021–22) but unfortunately fell short of claiming the championship title each time.
During the 2024–25 season, the team faced significant challenges, finishing in 8th place with 29 points from 24 matches. Despite moments of brilliance, including a record-setting 8–0 victory over Mumbai City in the Durand Cup, they managed only 8 wins in the league, missing the playoffs for the first time.
