Ghaziabad, Jan 28 (NationPress) In response to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s harsh remarks regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s attendance at the Maha Kumbh, former Congress member Acharya Pramod Krishnam has vehemently defended Shah, deeming the criticism an assault on both his personal faith and the tenets of Sanatan Dharma.
During an interview with IANS, Acharya Pramod Krishnam asserted, "Those who deride Sanatan are the very same individuals who question the purity of the Kumbh. The crux of the matter isn’t about when or where Amit Shah immersed himself, but rather that he did so with deep faith and reverence. This is a profoundly personal issue of faith, and no person or political party is entitled to interrogate anyone's beliefs."
Krishnam commended Amit Shah’s time in office as Home Minister, stating, "After Sardar Patel, Amit Shah is the first Home Minister to undertake courageous actions aimed at unifying the nation. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, Amit Shah has made landmark decisions previously unseen. If Mallikarjun Kharge is questioning Amit Shah’s faith by ridiculing his participation in the Kumbh, this represents an attack not just on him but also on the essence of our Sanatan values."
He added, "Those who seek to diminish Sanatan are the same people who label our beliefs 'impure' and mock those who adhere to them. How can such individuals ever grasp the significance of the Maha Kumbh?"
On Monday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a fierce critique aimed at Amit Shah regarding his Maha Kumbh participation, asserting that the Home Minister's "dip in the Ganga won’t alleviate poverty."
In a sweeping attack against the BJP, the Congress leader remarked that BJP officials were "racing against one another to immerse themselves in the Ganga for the sake of publicity."
However, Kharge clarified that he did not intend to offend anyone's "aastha" (faith).
"Does immersing oneself in the Ganga eradicate poverty? Does it satisfy one's hunger? I don't wish to challenge anyone's 'aastha (faith)'. If anyone feels offended, I extend my apologies. Yet, I ask, when a child suffers from hunger, is unable to attend school, and laborers aren’t receiving their wages, at such a time, these individuals are spending vast amounts of money and competing to take dips (in the Ganga)," Kharge expressed.
