Bengaluru, Feb 18 (NationPress) William Kimmitt, the United States Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, guided a team from the International Trade Administration (ITA) to Bengaluru this week. This marks the initial phase of a visit to India in anticipation of the Department of Commerce's engagement in the 2026 India AI Impact Summit, as stated by the US Consulate.

According to the statement, on February 17, Kimmitt and his team engaged with representatives from various US and Indian technology firms and innovators. Their goal was to gain insights into the integration of artificial intelligence within business processes and to identify avenues for enhancing US-India technology collaborations.

The delegation's itinerary included visits to companies such as Chemron Engine, Google DeepMind, South Park Commons, and Biocon, as part of their efforts to connect with industry players.

“I am honored to be in the core of tech innovation in Bengaluru at such a pivotal moment for US-India relations,” stated Kimmitt.

He further emphasized that the burgeoning trade agreement between the United States and India would fortify bilateral relations and encourage the adoption of advanced US technologies in India.

“We welcome India’s involvement in the American AI Exports Program, and we eagerly anticipate collaborating with our trusted partners to usher in a new era of prosperity and security powered by American AI leadership,” he remarked.

In addition to interactions with industry leaders, Kimmitt, alongside Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, took part in a roundtable hosted by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum. The discussions revolved around defense cooperation in emerging technologies, the promotion of technology exports, and enhancing industrial collaboration between the two nations.

The ITA delegation also featured Deputy Under Secretary Brandon Remington, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia Pamela Phan, and Chief of Staff Trevor Kellogg.

Following their engagement in Bengaluru, Kimmitt and the team are set to attend the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where they will present the American AI Exports Program and discuss further cooperation prospects.

The US Department of Commerce outlines that the American AI Exports Program seeks to facilitate the export of integrated artificial intelligence technology packages, which include specialized computing hardware, data infrastructure, AI models, cybersecurity systems, and sector-specific applications. This initiative aims to aid in the deployment of US AI technologies among reliable international partners and broaden global technology collaboration.
