Vasan, an officer from the 2018 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), has been diligently serving in Koraput after his recent transfer from Ganjam, where he held the position of CDO-cum-EO, Zilla Parishad. His outstanding dedication to public service and administrative prowess in Koraput significantly contributed to this prestigious recognition.
The award was presented during the 17th Civil Services Day celebration, where Prime Minister Modi addressed civil servants nationwide. The awards are designed to commend the exceptional contributions of civil servants in effectively executing government welfare programs.
This year, the awards were categorized into three groups: Holistic Development of Districts, Aspirational Blocks Programme, and Innovation. Koraput district received the accolade under the Holistic Development of Districts category after being assessed on 11 essential government schemes, including Mission Indradhanush, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Subhadra Yojana, and PM SVANidhi.
In response to this achievement, A. Sasya Reddy, Sub-Collector of Jeypore, expressed profound pride.
In an interview with IANS, A. Sasya Reddy stated: “On Civil Services Day, our Koraput district received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence for holistic development. It’s a proud day for all residents of Koraput. We were assessed under 11 schemes, and after a comprehensive evaluation, we earned this award.”
She further added: “Koraput, being a remote district, attaining such a milestone is a significant cause for joy. We have already reached saturation in schemes like Mission Indradhanush and PM Awas Yojana. Under the guidance of Collector V. Keerthi Vasan, and through the collaborative efforts of all relevant departments - health, agriculture, urban, and rural - we accomplished this. This award serves as a tremendous motivation for our future endeavors.”
Beneficiaries of government schemes in the district also expressed their appreciation.
D. Prakash Rao, a beneficiary of the PM Awas Yojana, remarked, “I feel proud that I received financial assistance and was able to construct a house. My life has improved, and I thank PM Modi for this opportunity.”
