New Delhi, Oct 16 (NationPress) Former President Ram Nath Kovind is set to inaugurate the 32nd Foundation Day celebration of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday, where he will lead discussions on pressing human rights issues, particularly concerning the rights and welfare of prison inmates.
Kovind will give the inaugural address in the presence of NHRC Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Members Justice (Dr) Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Vijaya Bharathi Sayani, and Priyank Kanoongo.

Among its significant interventions, the NHRC has proposed amendments to 97 discriminatory laws impacting individuals with Hansen's disease.
Between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, the Commission processed 73,849 complaints and 108 suo motu cases. During this timeframe, it conducted 63 spot inquiries, resolved 38,063 cases, and recommended over Rs 9 crore as monetary relief in 210 cases of human rights violations.
