Bengaluru, May 9 (NationPress) The Congress-led government of Karnataka has commended the Indian armed forces for their decisive actions in countering Pakistan's aggression and misadventures through Operation Sindoor during a Cabinet meeting that took place on Friday.
Speaking to the media following the Cabinet meeting at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs H.K. Patil stated: “In today’s Cabinet meeting, we addressed the heinous act carried out by Pakistan. Adequate measures have been taken against them, and the Indian armed forces have responded effectively and with success. Our cabinet has extended its congratulations to the Indian Army for this.”
“All 140 crore citizens of our nation have come together to applaud the armed forces for their action against Pakistan, which instigated this war-like situation. The cabinet has expressed its gratitude to our soldiers,” he added.
Moreover, the Cabinet has resolved to discuss the caste census report in the upcoming week.
“The report from the State Backward Classes Commission, known as the socio-educational (caste census) survey, was submitted on February 29, 2024. The Cabinet continued its discussions on this report. Various opinions have been submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, with more anticipated,” Patil mentioned.
He also noted that the Backward Classes Welfare Minister had provided additional information to the Chief Minister, and a decision has been made to delve deeper into the caste census report next week.
Additionally, the Cabinet voted to dismiss Dr. G.S. Balakrishna, a gynaecologist, from government service following confirmed corruption charges against him.
Previously, he had been placed on compulsory leave. This incident occurred on March 14, 2023, in Chikkamagaluru, where a pregnant woman named Kalpana gave birth, and Dr. Balakrishna illegally sold the newborn to a woman named Premalatha.
He fabricated documents to misrepresent that the baby was born to Premalatha, Patil highlighted.
“The allegations against Dr. Balakrishna have been substantiated, and the Cabinet has opted to terminate his government service,” Patil declared.
Under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the Cabinet has also decided to allocate 4 percent reservation in promotions within Group ‘B’ and Group ‘A’ junior grade government roles for individuals with verified physical disabilities.
In compliance with the directives of the National Green Tribunal, the government has agreed to fund 75 percent of the ₹75.67 crore needed for the comprehensive improvement of Bellandur Lake in Bengaluru. The remaining 25 percent will be sourced from independent funds, Patil stated.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved an administrative project to divert water from the Arkavathy River near Ganalu village to supply 46 tanks in Ramanagar district, with an estimated cost of ₹110 crore.
The Cabinet also resolved to release 45 prisoners serving life sentences ahead of their scheduled term and to release three additional convicts pending consent from the Union Home Ministry, Patil announced.
