The body of Alvin Prakash Kunder, a native of Kundapur in Karnataka's Udupi district, arrived at his home on Friday, 25 September 2026, nearly two months after he was allegedly murdered in Sharjah in late July. His return, met with profound grief by his family, marks a harrowing end to weeks of uncertainty over his whereabouts and fate.

How the Body Was Discovered

Kunder, who had reportedly lived and worked in the UAE for several years and held a position at Sharjah Airport for approximately 14 years, was allegedly killed in late July. His remains were recovered on 12 August from the boot of his Toyota car, which had been abandoned in an isolated area near the Al Nahda Commercial Area in Sharjah, according to details provided by his family. His identity was subsequently confirmed through DNA matching.

Forensic Findings: Nature of the Crime

According to the forensic report cited by the family, Kunder's body had been cut into nine parts after death. The head, neck, torso, arms, and legs had all been separated, with bones reportedly cut using a saw and soft tissues severed around the joints. The remains were allegedly packed into two bags — a green bag reportedly containing the torso, and a blue bag containing the head and parts of the arms and legs. The head was wrapped in a black plastic bag, while other parts were packed in transparent plastic.

Post-mortem findings reportedly identified two penetrating injuries on the left side of the chest, between the seventh and eighth ribs, which had entered the chest cavity with internal bleeding detected. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition at the time of examination. A blood sample reportedly indicated an alcohol level of 25.77 mg/dl.

Family's Concerns and the Search for His Wife and Son

Kunder's family first grew alarmed around 20 July, when he stopped responding to calls. According to his brother Anil Prashanth Kunder, a text message was received from his phone claiming he was well — though his characteristic voice messages had ceased. Early reports that Kunder had returned to India were later contradicted when passport records reportedly confirmed he had remained in the UAE.

His wife Tina, reportedly employed as a schoolteacher in the UAE, and their Class 10 son have been untraceable since the incident. The family has expressed serious concern over their disappearance and urged authorities to establish their whereabouts and determine whether they had any role in the crime. No official confirmation of their involvement has been reported. CCTV footage reportedly held by Sharjah Police is said to show a woman and two men carrying two bags believed to contain the body.

Political Intervention and Diplomatic Push

Former minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary visited the bereaved family on Friday, paid his final respects, and offered condolences. Poojary reportedly contacted Indian diplomatic authorities in Sharjah and confirmed he was also in communication with the Union Ministry of External Affairs regarding the case. He assured the family that efforts would be made to trace Tina and her son and bring the investigation to a close.

The family had previously approached the Udupi Superintendent of Police's office, seeking early repatriation of Kunder's body and assistance in locating his wife and son.

Investigation Status

Sharjah authorities are continuing to investigate the murder. The motive and identities of all those involved have not yet been officially established. The alleged involvement of a Pakistani national has also reportedly been suspected in the case. The family is urging an early and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kunder's death and the disappearance of his wife and son.
