‘Lakhpati Didis’ Shine at the Saras Food Festival in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 12 (NationPress) A multitude of ‘Lakhpati Didis’ from various regions of the country are showcasing their delicious culinary creations, which have sparked interest among visitors flocking to their stalls at the ongoing Saras food festival in Connaught Place, the heart of the national capital. This festival is attracting food aficionados and culinary experts alike.

This unique festival, organized by the Ministry of Rural Development, has transformed Connaught Place into a vibrant hub, featuring over 300 dishes from more than 25 states.

Many of the Lakhpati Didis expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the transformative impact of this initiative on their lives. One Lakhpati Didi stated, “Previously, women were primarily engaged in household duties, but now as Lakhpati Didis, we are generating income for our families, ensuring our children receive a quality education, and taking care of our households. This has become crucial for mothers and sisters.”

Rita Hazarika from Assam shared, “I prepare tea, rice, chicken curry, momos, and other dishes at my stall. It has been five years since I started, and with the introduction of the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, we received a bank loan, significantly changing our lives.”

Kanika Mehta, who comes from Tripura, learned about the Lakhpati Didi Scheme through friends. “Today, we feel empowered as we can afford to send our children to quality schools,” she remarked, expressing her appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Thanks to the government led by PM Modi, women like us have the opportunity to venture out, earn independently, and travel to places like Delhi. We are immensely grateful to PM Modi,” she added.

Another Lakhpati Didi from the Darjeeling district of West Bengal commented, “In the past, we were confined to household responsibilities. Now, we are marketing our food products in Delhi.”

“Women are advancing and embracing self-sufficiency. The most significant change is that women are stepping out of their homes and entering the workforce,” she noted.

Meenu Samanta from West Bengal said, “It feels wonderful to be here. We experienced no difficulties in obtaining loans. I secured a loan of Rs. 6 lakh, while my friend received Rs. 10 lakh. The loan process was smooth, which we could never have anticipated under previous administrations,” she stated.
