New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) The Saras Food Festival in the national capital's Baba Kharak Singh Marg is showcasing a vast assortment of delectable dishes from all over the country, enticing many food lovers and gourmands to the location.

This unique festival has transformed Connaught Place into a vibrant destination, with over 300 dishes from 25 states displayed here.

A major highlight of the food festival is the ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and their stalls presenting culinary treats at the event.

The festival, organized by the Ministry of Rural Development, features a rich selection of tasty dishes such as crispy Dal Baati Churma from Rajasthan, Hilsa from West Bengal, Dum Biryani from Telangana, Mughlai Chicken from Odisha, and Sarson Ka Saag with Makki Ki Roti from Punjab, among others.

The Saras Food Festival emphasizes women empowerment, with around 150 women entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups (SHGs), including the ‘Lakhpati Didis’, showcasing their culinary talents at the ongoing festival.

Numerous ‘Lakhpati Didis’ expressed their gratitude to the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for helping them establish their presence in the food industry.

Manati Devnath, in a conversation with IANS, mentioned that the Lakhpati Didi scheme has been incredibly beneficial for them.

“Thanks to the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are earning significant income and experiencing transformative changes in our lives. Today, we stand independently, all made possible through PM Modi’s assistance,” she stated.

Another participant named Saanvi expressed her appreciation for the Prime Minister.

“Previously, we rarely ventured outside our homes, but now we lead lives of independence. The 'Lakhpati Didi' scheme has provided us with a remarkable chance to become self-sufficient,” she shared.

Another woman emphasized that the self-confidence gained from this scheme is extraordinary.

“We also strive to encourage other women in our community to believe in themselves, as they can overcome any challenges. It is noteworthy that under the Lakhpati Didi Scheme, women SHGs receive financial assistance, training, and marketing support to enhance their professional capabilities. This initiative aims to empower millions of women across the nation,” she concluded.
