New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) The Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is set to officially launch the Saras Aajeevika Food Festival 2025 on Monday. This festival will feature participation from 300 ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and women associated with Self-Help Groups from 25 different states across India, as stated in an official announcement.
The vibrant showcase of Indian culture and culinary delights will be available at 62 stalls located at Sunder Nursery in Nizamuddin, close to Humayun’s Tomb. Visitors can immerse themselves in this gastronomic experience from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. until December 9.
This food festival stands as a remarkable demonstration of women’s empowerment in the national capital. Its goal is to introduce the populace to the rich diversity of Indian food culture while motivating rural women. Through the Ministry of Rural Development’s flagship initiative, the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, women from self-help groups nationwide have honed their skills in crafting rural products and preparing traditional dishes representative of their states, as mentioned in the statement.
Among the 62 stalls, 50 will feature live cooking, while 12 will showcase natural food products.
This year's festival promises visitors the opportunity to taste over 500 unique dishes. Highlights include Himachali siddu, Uttarakhand’s tandoor tea, the renowned kalari kulcha from Jammu & Kashmir, Hyderabadi dum biryani, North Eastern momos, Bengali fried fish, Rajasthan’s ker sangri, gatte ki sabzi, bajra roti, hilsa fish curry from West Bengal, chicken from Telangana, Malabar biryani from Kerala, litti chokha from Bihar, and Punjab’s sarson ka saag with makki ki roti, among numerous other delectable specialties from various regions. States like Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Gujarat will also be represented at the festival, as stated.
Present as the Guest of Honour during the inauguration will be the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi. Other notable attendees include the Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Chandrasekhar Pemmasani, and the Minister of State for Rural Development, Kamlesh Paswan.
