Patna, July 12 (NationPress) A liquor trader lost his life while another sustained severe injuries after being struck by a Dial 112 police vehicle near Pirokhar Panchayat Bhawan on National Highway 527C in the Madhwapur region of Madhubani on Saturday.
The victim has been named Rajkishore Mukhiya, while the injured individual, Sachin Mukhiya, is currently fighting for his life at Sitamarhi Sadar Hospital.
Both men hailed from Singiyahi village, located under the Pupri police station in the Sitamarhi district. The tragic incident transpired around 5 a.m. on Saturday.
In the aftermath, family members and supporters of the deceased blocked NH 527C for approximately six hours, staging protests by burning tires and erecting barriers along the highway. This led to significant traffic disruption, with long queues forming on both sides.
Tensions flared when police attempted to transport the body for a post-mortem, resulting in protesters throwing stones, which injured several officers.
To restore order, police were compelled to fire warning shots into the air.
Amid the unrest, liquor bottles that had fallen onto the road were looted by onlookers, further contributing to the chaos.
As a consequence of the incident, Madhubani SP Yogendra Kumar suspended Dial 112 officer Chandramohan Singh and the vehicle driver, Chandradeep Shastri.

According to police, the youths were allegedly engaged in liquor smuggling and were trying to escape when the Dial 112 vehicle collided with them during the pursuit.
