Lokayukta Executes Raids on Seven Government Officials in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Jan 8 (NationPress) The Lokayukta officials have carried out coordinated raids on seven government officials in Karnataka on Wednesday linked to a case of disproportionate assets, as per reports.
The operations took place across nine locations including Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Bidar, Belagavi, Gadag, Ballari, Raichur, Bagalkot, and Tumakuru districts.
Sources indicate that the raids targeted the residence of a Joint Director in the Transport Department in Bengaluru, the home of a Health Officer at the Kadur Primary Health Centre in Chikkamagaluru, and the house of an Engineer affiliated with the Minor Irrigation Department in Bidar.
Raids were also executed at the residence of a Tehsildar in Khanapur, Belagavi, along with his office in the same area and another residence in Nippani town. Lokayukta SP Hanumantarayappa led the operation.
Additionally, the residence and properties of an Executive Engineer linked to the Gadag-Betageri Municipality were targeted, with searches conducted at his office, residence, and farmhouse across five locations in Gadag, Gajendragarh, and Bagalkot districts.
Raids were also performed at the offices and residences of an officer from the Backward Classes Welfare Department and a Joint Engineer associated with the Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) in Raichur.
Moreover, the residence of a retired RTO officer in Tumakuru, who had completed his service last year, was also raided.
An official statement concerning these raids is still pending.
Previously, in July last year, Karnataka Lokayukta officials conducted extensive raids at 56 sites throughout the state, involving over 100 officials. During that operation, simultaneous raids were conducted against 11 government officials based on allegations of acquiring assets that were disproportionate to their known income sources. The raids spanned Bengaluru, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Chitradurga, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, and Hassan districts.
