Mumbai, Aug 6 (NationPress) As many as 51 tourists from Maharashtra stranded in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, after torrential rains and a cloudburst are confirmed safe, according to officials on Wednesday.
The State Emergency Operations Center reported that among the 51 tourists, 11 hail from Nanded district, while the remaining 40 belong to various other districts.
"The Maharashtra government is fully prepared to extend necessary support to the stranded tourists and is actively reaching out to them. To facilitate this, the state is coordinating with both the Uttarakhand Disaster Management Centre and the Uttarkashi District Disaster Center. Efforts are underway through Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi to relocate the stranded individuals to safe zones. The district administrations have also received directives, and the situation is under constant observation," stated the State Emergency Operations Centre in a release.

In related developments, NCP(SP) working president and MP Supriya Sule has reached out to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for assistance concerning 24 citizens from Manchar, Pune district who are also stranded.
In a post on X, Sule expressed, "Approximately 24 citizens from Manchar, Pune, Maharashtra are currently stranded in Uttarakhand due to the recent cloudburst. Their families are in distress as they have lost contact for over 24 hours. I urge Hon @pushkardhami ji and @ukcmo to intervene and assist in their swift rescue." She also provided names and contact numbers for 17 of the 24 individuals affected.
The Uttarakhand government has mobilized Army, ITBP, and NDRF teams to conduct relief and rescue operations in Uttarkashi's Dharali. The Army is utilizing drones to closely monitor the devastation and facilitate the rescue of trapped individuals.
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the areas impacted by the cloudburst and met with the affected families. He assessed the situation in Dharali village and noted, "Due to inclement weather, several locations have lost road connectivity, and bridges are damaged. Quick access to affected individuals is becoming increasingly challenging, but we are committed to ongoing rescue and relief efforts."
"Ten Deputy Superintendents of Police, three Superintendents of Police, and 160 other police personnel are actively engaged in rescue operations," stated Chief Minister Dhami.
He added, "The Disaster Operations Station in Dehradun is functioning around the clock to provide all possible assistance."
