Mumbai, July 31 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made a compelling request to the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for financial support to help achieve the ambitious target of transforming the state into a $1 trillion economy. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in realizing the vision of a 'Viksit Maharashtra' by the year 2047.
During his discussion with AIIB Vice President Ajay Bhushan Pandey, the Chief Minister outlined a structured plan for Viksit Maharashtra that is divided into three distinct phases, each defining short-term, medium-term, and long-term objectives.
He highlighted the rapid progress on various infrastructure initiatives within the state.
"Numerous projects are on the table, requiring backing from various financial institutions," stated Chief Minister Fadnavis.
Expressing gratitude for the AIIB's support, he said, "Our discussions were anchored on long-term partnerships aimed at fortifying Maharashtra's developmental blueprint. We are making steady strides towards our $1 trillion economy goal, which will significantly contribute to India's vision of a $5 trillion economy. A detailed plan is underway, with short-term milestones set for 2029, mid-term goals for 2035 coinciding with Maharashtra's 75th anniversary, and a long-term vision for 2047, aligned with the 'Amrit Kaal' vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A robust pipeline of projects is being developed, with nine major proposals already submitted to the NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Finance. Additionally, five river-linking projects are in progress to tackle water scarcity and bolster both agriculture and industry," he added.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister pointed out that Maharashtra is enhancing its capabilities in energy and urban transformation.
"Our objective is to generate one lakh MW of power through pump storage, while solar initiatives are revolutionizing rural areas with the installation of three to four lakh solar pumps annually for farmers," he remarked.
"Urban Maharashtra is evolving with the development of metro lines, coastal roads, and underground networks. With meticulous planning, dedicated execution, and international collaborations, Maharashtra is confidently advancing towards becoming a more robust, future-ready, and genuinely developed state," he concluded.
On this occasion, AIIB Vice-President Ajay Kumar Pandey shared insights into the bank's ongoing projects across Asia and globally.
He also pledged continued support for current and future projects in the state, according to a government statement.
