Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) The renowned luxury automobile manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz India, announced on Thursday that it achieved its record-breaking annual sales, delivering 19,363 units in FY25-26, reflecting a 2.29 percent increase from 18,928 units in the previous fiscal year. This growth was largely fueled by robust demand in its premium and core luxury segments.
During the January-March 2026 quarter, the company witnessed a notable 7.45 percent growth, selling 5,131 units, an increase from 4,775 units during the same timeframe last year.
Mercedes-Benz attributed its success to a strong product lineup, enhancements in its service network, and a unique customer experience.
The top-tier luxury category was a significant contributor to this growth, enjoying a 16 percent increase in FY2025–26 and an impressive 25 percent rise in the March quarter. This category encompasses models like the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach series, EQS SUV, and the AMG range.
Remarkably, this segment represented 27 percent of Mercedes-Benz India's total sales for the fiscal year. Currently, waiting times for these models range from four months to up to a year for select variants like the AMG G 63.
The 'core' segment, which includes the C-Class, E-Class LWB sedans, as well as the GLC and GLE SUVs, also played a vital role in enhancing overall sales figures.
Notably, the long-wheelbase E-Class has maintained its status as the top-selling luxury vehicle in India, continuing to attract strong demand across various markets.
However, the Entry Luxury segment faced an 18 percent decline during the fiscal due to increasing competition from more affordable alternatives that are supported by market incentives.
The company reiterated its commitment to providing products rich in features that align with its long-term brand strategy rather than pursuing volume-driven methods.
Electric vehicles are also gaining momentum, with battery electric vehicles constituting 20 percent of the company’s top-end luxury sales in FY2025–26. Sales of high-end electric vehicles priced above Rs 1.4 crore surged by 85 percent throughout the year, driven by consumer interest in models like the EQS SUV and EQS Maybach SUV.
Additionally, Mercedes-Benz India is preparing to launch the CLA electric vehicle on April 24, marking the debut of its next-generation software-defined vehicles in the Indian market.
On the retail front, the company aims to enhance its presence with over 20 new luxury outlets in 2026 as part of its 'Go to Customer' initiative. This expansion will target new markets such as Visakhapatnam and Varanasi, while also strengthening its foothold in key areas, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune, and Goa.
The expansion effort will be bolstered by an investment exceeding Rs 450 crore from franchise partners over the next two years, with an ongoing focus on improving customer experiences through upgraded facilities and the integration of advanced technologies.
