New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) As private consumption continues to rise in tier 2 and 3 cities amidst a resilient economy, luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz India announced on Thursday its plans to broaden its presence in two promising growth markets within the country.

In 2024, Mercedes-Benz achieved a record sales figure of 19,565 new vehicles, marking its most successful year in 30 years in India, compared to 17,408 units sold in 2023.

The company has now opened new state-of-the-art luxury facilities in Faridabad and Agra.

According to a company statement, it aims to enhance its presence in additional significant markets such as Kanpur and Varanasi in the upcoming months, emphasizing the growing significance of Uttar Pradesh as a region with substantial growth potential.

“Agra represents a crucial market for Mercedes-Benz, characterized by an affluent customer demographic and a rising demand for our vehicles. The aspirations of Agra’s clientele are rapidly evolving, as we observe a strong inclination towards our ultra-luxury offerings,” stated Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.

Mercedes-Benz already maintains a robust presence in Uttar Pradesh with a luxury facility located in Lucknow.

The automaker boasts the largest network of luxury touchpoints, with over 100 locations spread across more than 50 cities.

Last month, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Mercedes-Benz India aimed at enhancing India’s manufacturing ecosystem, promoting road safety, and ensuring environmental sustainability.

This partnership will focus on establishing structured programs that offer startups essential infrastructure, mentorship, funding opportunities, and market connections. The initiative is also set to promote international collaborations and facilitate knowledge exchange to generate long-term benefits.

The luxury car manufacturer plans to introduce at least eight new models in 2025. According to Iyer, the company “will concentrate on its product portfolio while expanding luxury touchpoints across India.”

The German automobile company is set to invest Rs 450 crore in India over the next three years, with plans to establish 20 new touchpoints by the close of this year. Mercedes-Benz India is also preparing to launch its highly anticipated model, the 'AMG GLE 53 Coupe', by the second quarter of this year.
