Mercedes-Benz India Q3 2026: Best-ever quarter with 5,422 units, 6% YoY rise
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mercedes-Benz India has delivered its best-ever quarterly performance, retailing 5,422 units in Q3 2026 — a 6 per cent rise over 5,119 units in Q3 2025 and a sharp 17 per cent jump on a quarter-on-quarter basis. The result, announced on Monday, 5 October 2026, also pushed the automaker's January–September 2026 tally to a highest-ever 15,190 units, roughly 8 per cent ahead of the 14,132 units clocked in the same nine-month window last year.
What drove the record quarter
The momentum was concentrated at the top end of the portfolio. Top-End Luxury models — spanning the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS Maybach SUV, G-Class, V-Class, and the AMG range — grew over 13 per cent year-on-year and now account for more than 25 per cent of total sales. Notably, the bespoke MANUFAKTUR personalisation programme contributed nearly 75 per cent within that premium segment, signalling that India's wealthiest buyers are increasingly opting for individualised configurations rather than standard variants.
AMG sets new records
Mercedes-AMG deliveries climbed over 18 per cent during the quarter, and the AMG G 63 posted its highest-ever monthly sales figure. The performance underscores a structural shift in India's luxury car market, where ultra-high-performance SUVs and saloons are outpacing the broader segment — a trend that mirrors what Mercedes-Benz has observed in comparable emerging markets such as China and the Middle East.
What the CEO said
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, attributed the result to a disciplined product and customer strategy. 'Mercedes-Benz continues its outstanding growth story in India, clocking best-ever quarter and highest January–September sales, driven by exceptional value led customer strategy,' Iyer said. He added that 'record sales in each quarter in CY 2026 is a result of our unwavering focus on high product substance, brand exclusivity and elevating customer experience.' On the electrification pipeline, Iyer noted that deliveries of the 'much-awaited electrified S-Class will begin this month, strengthening Mercedes-Benz's unmatched luxury positioning as the most desirable luxury brand for discerning luxury dwellers.'
Upcoming launches and what to watch
Two significant product events are imminent. Deliveries of the New Electrified S-Class are set to begin mid-October 2026, while the New GLC BEV makes its India debut on 4 November 2026. Both launches signal Mercedes-Benz's intent to accelerate its battery-electric vehicle presence in India without sacrificing its halo positioning in the internal-combustion segment. With each of the first three quarters of CY 2026 logging record sales, the brand appears on course to post a full-year high as well.
