Bhopal, May 27 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep concern on Tuesday regarding the disappearance of a newlywed couple from Indore in Meghalaya, describing the situation as extremely shocking.
The couple, Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, have reportedly gone missing in Shillong, Meghalaya.
“This case is extremely shocking,” stated the Chief Minister.
Upon learning of the incident, he promptly contacted Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, urging immediate and effective measures to ensure the couple's safety.
“Chief Minister Sangma assured that his police department is making every effort to locate the missing couple and has promised all necessary assistance,” the Chief Minister shared on X.
He also mentioned that he has instructed senior officials from the Madhya Pradesh government to maintain constant communication and coordination with the Meghalaya authorities.
“I pray to God for the safe return of Raja and Sonam. We are fully committed to ensuring their safe return,” said the Chief Minister.
The couple, both in their thirties, were last known to be in Nongrait and Mawlakiat on Friday. Since then, all attempts to contact them have been unsuccessful, with their mobile phones turned off.
A rented two-wheeler belonging to the couple was discovered abandoned in Sohra Rim, leading police to suspect they may have gone trekking.
Sohra, located in the East Khasi Hills district, borders Bangladesh and is renowned for its living-root bridges and numerous waterfalls.
