Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Purulia (West Bengal), April 19 (NationPress) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in this region on Sunday to speak at a public rally ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections on April 23 and April 29, he was welcomed by a large gathering of supporters who had braved the intense heat for hours just to see him.
Posting a video showcasing the crowd's fervor on the social media platform X, PM Modi remarked, "It’s a scorching Sunday afternoon in Purulia, yet the excitement is at a record high!"
He mentioned that the footage was captured from the helipad.
"An impromptu roadshow took place, followed by an incredibly well-attended rally," the Prime Minister noted.
To show their appreciation, several attendees had created paintings as gifts for PM Modi.
One attendee displayed his artwork, which depicted PM Modi alongside his mother, Heeraben Modi.
He shared, "I started working on this painting three days after PM Modi's visit was made public. I've spent countless nights creating these pieces for him, dedicating four nights to complete it."
"This artwork also expresses respect for PM Modi's mother, who has given us a son that has made India proud internationally. We are grateful to both her and PM Modi," he added.
Additionally, he expressed optimism regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing victory in Bengal.
"We want PM Modi to understand that, just like in this painting, his mother’s blessings will guide him toward victory in West Bengal," the rally participant stated.
A female supporter expressed her joy, saying, "I am thrilled to see such a massive turnout despite the sweltering heat."
However, she voiced her concerns about women's safety in the state under the administration of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress.
"It’s disheartening that, despite being a female Chief Minister, she (Mamata Banerjee) has failed to ensure women’s security. This is quite shameful for us," she commented.
Another local man expressed confidence in the BJP's chances this time around.
"There is significant enthusiasm surrounding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, and this excitement is indicative that a BJP government will be established in Bengal this time," he asserted.
He accused the Trinamool Congress government of neglecting development and failing to create job opportunities for the youth.
"Corruption has been rampant over the past 15 years of Trinamool Congress rule," he concluded.
