Sahibganj (Jharkhand), Feb 11 (NationPress) – Authorities have apprehended a woman along with her lover in Ratanpur village, located in Sahibganj district of Jharkhand, following the tragic murder of her 15-year-old son, as reported by police on Wednesday.

The individuals involved have been named as Meenu Devi and Rohit Sah. They were both arrested and subsequently taken into judicial custody after being presented in court.

According to law enforcement officials, the chilling details surrounding the crime were uncovered during an inquiry into the suspicious demise of a teenager named Ayush. Initial investigations indicated that Meenu Devi was engaged in an illicit affair with Sah, who is also her nephew.

Police disclosed that on February 7, when Meenu Devi’s spouse, Hemant Sah, left home for some errands, Rohit Sah visited the residence. During this visit, Ayush caught sight of the two in a compromising situation, leading him to yell out. Fearing exposure to family and the community, the pair subdued Ayush and ultimately strangled him using a rope.

Following the murder, they disposed of the body near a pond behind the residence, attempting to stage it as an accidental death or disappearance.

Upon Hemant Sah's return, Meenu Devi concocted a tale, suggesting that Ayush had gone out to use the restroom and had not returned. Concerned about his absence, family members and neighbors initiated a search, ultimately discovering the boy unconscious near the pond.

He was rushed to the Barharwa Community Health Centre and later referred to Sonajori Hospital in Pakur, but unfortunately, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

As preparations for the funeral commenced, police were notified regarding the suspicious nature of the death. Officers arrived at the scene, secured the body, and arranged for a post-mortem examination.

Following a complaint filed by Ayush’s father, a murder case was registered. Investigators pieced together the timeline of events through circumstantial evidence and thorough questioning of the suspects.

The inconsistencies in Meenu Devi’s statements raised red flags, eventually leading to the uncovering of the crime.
