Kolar, (Karnataka) Oct 28 (NationPress) In response to Home Minister G. Parameshwara's comments expressing his support for Karnataka's Minister of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs as a potential Chief Minister, K.H. Muniyappa has made it clear that he has no interest in the Chief Minister position. “We are all bound by the decision of the high command,” he asserted on Tuesday.

These remarks are particularly notable as Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is rumored to be vying for the top position.

The consideration of Muniyappa—who has served as a Congress MP seven times, is a former Union Minister, and a key Dalit leader—as a possible CM candidate has escalated the internal party conflict. However, with Muniyappa now stating he does not wish to take on this role and will respect the high command’s decision, insiders believe this could be a favorable turn for Deputy CM Shivakumar.

Speaking to reporters in Kolar on Tuesday, Minister Muniyappa stated, “I appreciate Parameshwara's support for my potential candidacy for the CM position. He is one of the most senior leaders in our party and has led the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) admirably.”

“We are all dedicated to the high command's decision. The choice for the Chief Minister will ultimately be made by them. I cannot simply claim that I am prepared for the CM role, as I have no desire to be Chief Minister,” reiterated Muniyappa.

He added that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will remain in his position for five years, and that there will be no leadership changes at this time. “He was instrumental in securing power for the Congress party in the state. There are many capable leaders, including State Congress President and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who are qualified for the position,” he stated.

“Nonetheless, every day, there are efforts to create uncertainty. We will not make any decisions regarding a change in Chief Minister,” he concluded.

In the midst of the ongoing leadership debate, Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara expressed his happiness at the thought of senior party leader and Food Minister K.H. Muniyappa, who belongs to the Dalit community, becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Parameshwara further noted that Muniyappa, a seven-time MP, is a capable leader.

Parameshwara remarked, “Muniyappa has been elected as an MP seven times from the Congress party. It is quite an achievement to win seven times. He is a senior leader and a former Union Minister. His efficiency is commendable. If Muniyappa becomes the Chief Minister, I would be pleased.”

“As we belong to the same community, I would naturally feel joyful if our community gets an opportunity. A community that has been historically marginalized—if it comes to power, wouldn’t that be a source of happiness for us? In this context, Muniyappa is indeed efficient, and I would be happy if he is made the Chief Minister,” added Parameshwara.
