Is Naidu Engaging in Doublespeak About Tirupati Laddu Ghee?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Tirupati, Feb 12 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party has criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his alleged doublespeak regarding the pricing and quality of ghee used in the preparation of Tirupati laddu during his previous tenure.
During a media briefing, former Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) and YSRCP leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy pointed out that Naidu has questioned the feasibility of providing quality ghee for under Rs 300 per kg. However, it was Naidu's own family-owned company, Heritage Foods, that supplied ghee at Rs 278 per kg during his last term from 2014 to 2019.
The ghee manufacturing unit, Indapur Foods and Dairy Products, had provided substantial quantities of ghee priced between Rs 278 and Rs 306 under Naidu's previous administration. Reddy demanded answers regarding the sudden price hike to Rs 658 per kg now that the unit has resumed its supply after the NDA's return to power.
He emphasized that Naidu must clarify why the same unit's ghee, sold at Rs 278, was once deemed pure, yet now he claims that quality ghee cannot be offered for less than Rs 300.
Reddy also urged Naidu to explain the discrepancy in bid prices compared to those accepted in recent tenders.
