Amaravati, July 3 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday, leveled serious allegations against former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, claiming he engaged in political maneuvering by 'threatening' the widow of a man who tragically died after being reportedly run over by his vehicle during a rally last month.
Following a meeting where Lourdu Mary expressed her concerns regarding the circumstances of her husband, Cheeli Singaiah's death, Naidu criticized the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader for exploiting a personal tragedy for political gain. Mary alleged that individuals associated with State Minister Nara Lokesh attempted to coerce her into signing paperwork.
While speaking to reporters in Kuppam, Chittoor district, Naidu stated that not only did Jagan's vehicle strike Singaiah, but he also abandoned him at the scene, likening it to leaving a 'puppy' on the road.
On Wednesday, Mary raised questions about her husband's death during Jagan's rally in Guntur district on June 18. She claimed that Singaiah had minor injuries and was able to communicate after the accident, leading her to suspect foul play as he was transported to the hospital.
Mary also alleged that representatives of Minister Lokesh pressured her to sign documents, which she firmly declined. Furthermore, she claimed that police officials showed her recordings of the incident to intimidate her into compliance.
On June 22, Guntur police initiated a case against Jagan Mohan Reddy and his associates related to Singaiah's death. The incident occurred on the National Highway at Etukuru village during a rally organized by the YSR Congress Party, where Singaiah was found with severe injuries and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Following a complaint from Singaiah's wife, authorities opened an investigation under BNS section 106 (1) for 'causing death by negligence'. The case implicates Jagan, his driver Ramana Reddy, Personal Assistant Nageswar Reddy, MP Y. V. Subba Reddy, former minister Perni Nani, and Vidadala Rajini.
Additionally, police recently seized Jagan's bulletproof vehicle in connection with this investigation.
