Kohima, March 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, alongside Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, expressed their support on Friday for the recent appointment of senior BJP figure Nand Kishore Yadav as the new Governor of Nagaland.

Nand Kishore Yadav succeeds Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who has been managing the gubernatorial responsibilities for Nagaland in addition to his role in Manipur since August 25 of the previous year.
Governor Bhalla, a former Union Home Secretary, was assigned the additional role of Nagaland's Governor by President Murmu on August 16 following the passing of Governor La. Ganesan on August 15 at a Chennai hospital at the age of 80.
At the age of 73, Nand Kishore Yadav has a long history of service, having joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1969 and becoming active in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in 1971.
He held the position of President of the BJP's Bihar unit from 1998 to 2003 and has served in several key roles within the Bihar government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, including that of Health and Family Welfare and Tourism.
Yadav also acted as the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2013 to 2015. In February 2024, he was elected as the 17th Speaker of the Bihar Assembly.
