Guwahati, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Indian Railways is reaffirming its dedication to passenger convenience by introducing special train services during this festive season, as confirmed by officials on Sunday.
As stated by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the Indian Railways plans to operate a total of 1,500 special trains this year, enhancing travel comfort across major routes.
This strategic initiative underscores the Indian Railways' commitment to fulfilling festive travel demands, providing reliable options for millions of passengers.
CPRO Sharma noted that, in alignment with this effort and to address the surge in passenger demand during the Holi festival, the NFR has scheduled four pairs of special trains, with additional services expected to be announced soon.
The designated routes for these special trains include connections between Narangi-Gorakhpur-Narangi, Katihar-Amritsar-Katihar, Dibrugarh-Jhanjharpur-Dibrugarh, and Dibrugarh-Kolkata-Dibrugarh.
Operating multiple trips at various times, these special trains will function from February 18 to March 31.
The services aim to link key destinations and alleviate congestion on regular trains, enabling passengers to celebrate the vibrant festival of colors with their families comfortably and safely.
Information regarding the stoppages and schedules of these special trains can be found on the IRCTC website and will also be shared through various newspapers and the social media channels of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
Passengers are advised to check the details before embarking on their journeys.
The Northeast Frontier Railway consistently operates special trains during festive seasons to provide convenient travel options for residents across the eight Northeastern states.
Headquartered at Maligaon near Guwahati, the NFR serves not only the Northeastern states but also extends to seven districts of West Bengal and five districts in northern Bihar.
In related news, the Union Cabinet has recently sanctioned a 15.8-km twin-tube tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh in Assam.
This project is expected to significantly cut travel distance from 240 km to 34 km and reduce travel time from 6 hours to just 20 minutes, thereby greatly enhancing regional connectivity and promoting socio-economic development, as per NFR officials.
