NFR's Holi Festival Preparations: Enhancing Travel Experience Across Stations
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, Feb 28 (NationPress) With the Holi festival approaching and a notable increase in expected passenger traffic, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has initiated a comprehensive array of measures across its network to guarantee safe, smooth, and comfortable journeys for all travelers.
NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, emphasized that through teamwork, vigilance, and a passenger-centric approach, NFR is fully prepared to deliver a secure, efficient, and enjoyable travel experience during the festive season.
As part of its festive readiness strategy, Indian Railways will be running 14 pairs of Holi Special trains over NFR, amounting to 128 trips to accommodate the increased demand during this peak travel time.
These special services will complement regular train operations, adding extra capacity to significantly assist passengers traveling to and from major destinations throughout the region, Sharma mentioned.
He added that all significant railway stations under NFR's jurisdiction have been thoroughly prepared with enhanced festive arrangements to handle the expected rush.
The CPRO noted that dedicated holding areas have been established at key stations to efficiently manage passenger flow. These areas are equipped with real-time Passenger Information Systems, clean drinking water, hygienic toilets, sufficient seating, and good ventilation to ensure passenger comfort.
To further enhance safety and crowd management, additional Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Commercial staff are deployed around the clock. Measures like queue management, regulated entry, and ongoing monitoring of platforms and circulation areas are being implemented to avoid overcrowding and facilitate the smooth movement of travelers. Technological support has bolstered these preparedness efforts.
The official stated that real-time CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring at sensitive sites, automatic ticket vending machines for quicker transactions, Segway scooters for rapid response, and dedicated war rooms at divisional offices and headquarters are maintaining 24/7 operational oversight and enabling swift responses to any emergencies.
Intensified cleanliness initiatives are being executed across stations and trains to uphold high hygiene standards during the festive period.
Close collaboration among operational, commercial, security, and engineering departments is crucial for the effective execution of the preparedness strategy.
With a strong commitment to vigilance, coordination, and passenger-first service, Northeast Frontier Railway is dedicated to delivering a safe, secure, and enjoyable travel experience during the Holi festival, the CPRO affirmed.
