Guwahati, Dec 21 (NationPress) The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the operation of three pairs of special trains during the Christmas and New Year 2026 festivities to meet the travel demand, officials disclosed on Sunday.
NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma mentioned that these special trains will include routes from Guwahati to Sairang (Mizoram), Dibrugarh to Lucknow, and New Delhi to Kamakhya, providing enhanced travel options for passengers during this busy season.
The Guwahati-Sairang special will operate for two trips on each of the specified dates. It will depart from Guwahati on December 22 and 24, 2025, and return from Sairang on December 23 and 25, 2025.
This special service will consist of two AC 3-Tier coaches, two General Second Class coaches, eight Sleeper Class coaches, and two General Second luggage-cum-brake van coaches, ensuring ample accommodation for travelers.
The CPRO emphasized that passengers can find detailed information regarding the stoppages and schedules of these trains on the IRCTC website and through various notifications on social media platforms and in newspapers from the Northeast Frontier Railway.
Travelers are encouraged to confirm the details before embarking on their journeys.
In addition, the NFR is focused on enhancing passenger comfort and station amenities, having recently improved the retiring rooms and dormitory at Guwahati Railway Station under the Lumding Division, upgrading them with top-notch facilities.
The Retiring Room complex, located on the first floor, now offers a significantly upgraded stay experience for railway passengers. According to CPRO Sharma, this accommodation includes nine rooms—seven with two beds and two with five beds—along with a dormitory that can accommodate 12 individuals.
As part of the upgrade, all rooms are now fully air-conditioned, featuring more comfortable beds and enhanced interiors, ensuring a modern, hygienic, and convenient atmosphere for rail passengers during their travels.
