Patna, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, on Saturday characterized the Union Budget 2025 as “positive and progressive”, expressing his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for delivering a budget he believes will propel the nation’s growth.
He stated, “The Union Budget incorporates numerous initiatives aimed at benefiting the poor, youth, and farmers across the nation. I extend my thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for unveiling a commendable budget.”
Nitish Kumar emphasized various significant announcements within the budget that are likely to favor Bihar.
He noted, “The Finance Minister has declared the formation of a Makhana Board to enhance the production, processing, value addition, and marketing of makhana, which will greatly benefit local farmers. The plan to construct greenfield airports in Bihar is anticipated to address the state’s future aviation demands, augment international flights, and foster economic development. The announcements made by the Union Finance Minister are set to invigorate the economy and infrastructure of Bihar.”
He also pointed out that funding for the Western Kosi Canal project in the Mithilanchal region will aid farmers by improving irrigation over more than 50,000 hectares.
The Union Budget additionally includes plans for expanding IIT Patna, which will enhance technical education within the state.
Nitish Kumar further remarked, “The establishment of the National Institute of Food Technology in Bihar will offer skills, entrepreneurship, and job opportunities for the youth, while also promoting food processing in eastern India.”
Moreover, he commended initiatives such as increasing the income tax exemption threshold to Rs 12 lakh, providing relief for the middle class; raising the Kisan Credit Card loan cap from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, benefiting farmers; and expanding the MSME credit guarantee cover from Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore, which is expected to enhance job opportunities.
