Patna, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Union Budget 2025 has given a remarkable focus on Bihar, unveiling numerous significant projects designed to elevate the state's infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism sectors.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan, a proud Bihari, expressed his appreciation for the Budget revealed by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, stating: "As a Bihari, I feel honored that Bihar has been presented with numerous large-scale projects."
One of the standout initiatives is the Western Kosi Canal Project, which promises to assist farmers on 50,000 hectares of land, greatly enhancing irrigation capabilities.
Bihar is also slated to welcome three new greenfield airports, catering to the rising aviation needs of the state. This development will supplement the ongoing upgrades at Patna Airport and Bihta Airport, in addition to the three Greenfield Airport projects. Furthermore, the renewed UDAN scheme is set to fortify regional air connections.
On another note, Bihar's Industry and Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra commended the Budget, labeling it as "committed to the advancement of farmers, women, youth, and the middle class."
He highlighted that the Budget resonates with the vision of "Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi" and aims to foster start-ups, innovation, and skill development among young people.
“A pivotal announcement for Bihar is the creation of a Makhana Board, aimed at enhancing the production, processing, and international marketing of Bihar’s renowned makhana. In terms of education and entrepreneurship, the budget allocates funds for the growth of IIT Patna and the founding of the National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management. These establishments are expected to be instrumental in nurturing innovation and generating job opportunities for the youth of Bihar.
The tourism industry has also received substantial support, with dedicated programs for the preservation of Bihar’s cultural heritage and the enhancement of Buddhist pilgrimage sites, which will bolster the local economy.
Provisions targeting MSMEs, the leather sector, and the textile industry are anticipated to propel industrial advancement within the state.
