Guwahati, March 25 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, stated on Wednesday that the state currently faces no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG, urging residents to refrain from panic buying.

During a press conference, Sarma emphasized that fuel supplies are sufficient and assured the public that there is no reason for alarm.

“Assam has an ample supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG. There is no reason to fear a shortage,” he remarked.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister noted that the Government of India has provided clarity on this matter during an all-party meeting, confirming that there is no disruption in fuel supply nationwide.

“The Centre has made it clear in the all-party meeting that there is no lack of petrol and diesel,” Sarma added.

He urged citizens to act responsibly and avoid unnecessary hoarding of fuel, which could lead to artificial shortages in the market.

“I encourage the public not to rush to fuel stations or excessively stockpile petrol and diesel,” he urged.

According to officials, the supply chains for petroleum products in Assam and the Northeast are stable, and oil companies are maintaining their regular distribution without any interruptions.

Sarma’s statements come in response to growing concerns about fuel availability, which had led to increased demand at petrol stations in certain regions. Nonetheless, authorities have assured that supply logistics remain unaffected.

The state government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with oil marketing firms to guarantee a steady supply of fuel throughout Assam.

Officials also cautioned that panic buying could temporarily strain local resources, even though there is sufficient stock at a broader level.

Reiterating his earlier appeal, the Chief Minister called on the public to stay calm and refrain from spreading misinformation, highlighting that there is no need for concern regarding fuel availability in the state.
