Bhubaneswar, April 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, expressed his strong disapproval of the heinous terrorist attack targeting innocent visitors in Pahalgam, located in Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday.

Majhi also conveyed his sincere condolences to the families affected by the tragic events in Kashmir.

“I strongly condemn the cowardly assault on tourists in #Pahalgam, South Kashmir. Violence has no place in our society. My heartfelt sympathies go out to those who lost their lives. I am praying for the swift recovery of the injured. Odisha stands united with the victims and their families during this challenging time,” CM Majhi shared on his X account.

Initial reports indicate that a tourist from the Balasore district of Odisha has tragically lost his life due to the attack.

“Preliminary reports confirm the passing of one tourist from Odisha in this unfortunate incident. The Chief Minister has instructed the Chief Resident Commissioner in New Delhi to ensure that the deceased Odia tourist's remains are returned to his hometown with honor and security,” stated the CM’s Office.

The Governor of Odisha, Hari Babu Kambhampati, also condemned the barbarous terrorist attack and extended his condolences to the families of the victims.

“Hon'ble Governor, Shri @drharibabuk has expressed his profound sympathy to the families mourning their loved ones following the #Pahalgam attack and denounced the act of terrorism in our peace-loving nation,” the Governor’s Office posted on its official X account.

The Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also expressed his disapproval of the brutal attack on tourists in Kashmir.

“I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack on innocent visitors in Kashmir’s #Pahalgam. Terrorism has no place in a civilized world, and this despicable act is intolerable. My deepest condolences go to the families of those lost and I pray for the quick recovery of the injured,” Patnaik wrote.

Reports indicate that multiple tourists lost their lives and many others, including both tourists and locals, suffered injuries during the terror attack at the Pahalgam hill station in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday, prompting security forces to initiate a significant operation to locate the attackers.

According to reports, two to three terrorists dressed in army uniforms opened fire on horse-riding tourists in the Baisran area around 2:30 p.m. Baisran is a small meadow located 3 to 4 km from the Pahalgam market, accessible only by horseback due to the absence of a motorable road.
