Chennai, July 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Sunday that Operation Sindoor has conveyed a definitive message globally that India will firmly respond to any threats posed against its security and sovereignty.
While speaking at the ancient Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple in Tamil Nadu’s Ariyalur district, he stated, “India of today prioritizes its security. The world saw during Operation Sindoor that if anyone dares to threaten India's sovereignty, we will respond decisively. This operation has fostered a newfound confidence and sparked unity throughout the nation. There is no sanctuary for India's adversaries and terrorists anywhere globally.”
The Prime Minister addressed a special event commemorating the closing celebrations of the Aadi Thiruvathirai festival and the millennium anniversary of Rajendra Chola's maritime expedition to Southeast Asia.
This event took place at the Gangaikonda Cholisvaram temple, a UNESCO-recognized architectural marvel erected by Rajendra Chola I.
While offering prayers to Lord Brihadeeswara, PM Modi remarked, “I prayed for the prosperity of 140 crore Indians and the ongoing advancement of our nation. I consider myself fortunate to have this opportunity.”
He announced that magnificent statues of Chola emperors Rajaraja Chola and Rajendra Chola will be established in Tamil Nadu to honor their significant contributions to Indian history and culture.
He noted that the Chola Empire marked a golden period in India, showcasing remarkable achievements in architecture, governance, diplomacy, trade, and cultural integration.
“The Cholas forged strong political and trade connections with Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Southeast Asia. It’s coincidental that I just returned from the Maldives yesterday, and today I find myself in the land once governed by these visionary kings,” he commented.
Reflecting on India’s civilizational values, the Prime Minister highlighted, “The Cholas were pioneers of democratic principles even before Britain. Their kudavolai system is regarded as one of the earliest forms of participatory democracy. They also excelled in water management and temple architecture.”
He praised Tamil Nadu’s rich Shaivite traditions and pointed out that over 30 stolen artifacts retrieved by the Union government from various countries belonged to Tamil Nadu.
“The Saivite poet Thirumoolar expressed, ‘Anbe Sivam' -- Love is God. If the world embraces this philosophy, many of today’s issues such as instability, violence, and environmental degradation can be addressed. India is conveying this message globally through ‘One World, One Family, One Future',” he added.
Moved by the spiritual atmosphere and musical tribute by Ilaiyaraaja, PM Modi greeted the attendees with a “Vanakkam Chola Mandalam!”
He declared, “The vision of Lord Shiva and the divine melodies of Ilaiyaraaja have enriched my spirit. The exhibition here dedicated to the Cholas was truly inspiring.”
Among the dignitaries present at the event were Governor R.N. Ravi, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu (representing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin), Union Minister of State L. Murugan, and VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan.
