New Delhi, Dec 16 (NationPress) Purnea MP Pappu Yadav stated on Tuesday that the offensive comments directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Congress protest rally were justified as the slogans were born out of anger and politicians must be prepared to face criticism.

This statement was made amidst the political uproar concerning the 'Modi teri kabra khudegi' slogans shouted at a recent Congress rally.

In an interview with IANS, Yadav remarked, "What’s the issue? When someone said, 'Modi, your grave will be dug,' it was spoken in anger. In moments of frustration, people sometimes utter harsh words, even towards their loved ones. During times of outrage, politicians must accept that criticism is part of the game."

He emphasized that all political figures encounter such objectionable comments.

“People express a lot about us too. On social media, from Sonia Gandhi to others, various remarks circulate. The PM also critiques every politician; he has made comments about cows, lizards, jewelry, and more. His party members are known for their harsh critiques too. What have his party leaders said about Mamata Didi? What haven’t they said about Rahul Gandhi and his lineage? Their Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and even Anurag Thakur have made disparaging remarks about Rahul Gandhi,” Yadav asserted.

“If a party worker expresses something, we (politicians) should have the resolve to accept that criticism,” he added.

Previously, on December 14, Congress members and leaders congregated at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan for a protest rally against alleged 'vote chori', accusing the central government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of colluding to manipulate the electoral process.

While the demonstration aimed to address issues of alleged electoral fraud, it quickly became contentious as several attendees were heard chanting objectionable slogans against the Prime Minister.

As the slogans resonated throughout the venue, participants could be heard chanting, "Modi teri kabra khudegi, aaj nahi to kal khudegi (Modi, your grave will be dug, if not today, then tomorrow)," along with "Vote chor, gaddi chhord," explicitly targeting the Prime Minister.

Throughout the protest, party members continued to shout similar offensive slogans while displaying placards and banners.

The BJP has now criticized the Congress party for persistently "abusing" the Prime Minister and for "failing to take responsibility" for the situation.

Point of View

Pappu Yadav's defense of derogatory slogans against the Prime Minister underscores the volatile nature of political discourse in India. While anger and criticism are part of political engagement, the responsibility lies with leaders to foster constructive dialogue rather than inciting further division.
