New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) In a strong response to the inappropriate slogans directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Congress protest at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, Union Minister Annapurna Devi stated that this incident reveals the opposition’s persistent attitude and their disregard for democratic institutions and leadership.
She condemned the slogans, asserting that such actions unveil the Congress’s negative mindset.
“This has consistently been their nature; they exhibit a complete lack of respect for anyone. The Prime Minister, who is steering India towards rapid progress, represents the vision of a Viksit Bharat. Yet, they choose to hurl abuse at him, even targeting his mother. Such conduct showcases a profoundly negative outlook, and the repercussions of such thinking are quite evident,” expressed Annapurna Devi.
Union Minister B.L. Verma also heavily criticized the Congress for the slogans chanted during the protest, cautioning that such rhetoric will not hinder the nation's advancement. “The Congress members may continue their chants, but while discussing graves, they may find themselves in one. Under the Prime Minister's leadership, this nation will keep progressing,” Verma stated.
These ministers’ comments surfaced amidst escalating political tensions following the Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan, which was organized to protest against alleged “vote theft.” With robust security measures in place, Congress workers and leaders gathered in droves, accusing the central government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of colluding to manipulate elections.
However, the demonstration quickly sparked controversy as numerous participants were heard chanting objectionable and provocative slogans against Prime Minister Modi. Amidst the chants, some workers shouted, “Modi teri kabra khudegi, aaj nahi to kal khudegi”, along with “vote chor, gaddi chhord,” explicitly targeting the Prime Minister. These chants drew severe denunciation from the ruling BJP, which accused the Congress party of breaching democratic and moral boundaries.
In response to the incident, BJP leaders remarked that the slogans laid bare the true intention behind the protest, stating it was less about electoral reforms and more about expressing political frustration. They also accused the Congress of normalizing abusive political dialogue and inciting its workers to use inflammatory language against the nation’s leadership.
Defending the chants at the rally, a Congress worker from Rajasthan, Manjulata Meena, told IANS, “We stand with our leader Rahul Gandhi, who is battling against the ‘vote theft’ perpetrated by the BJP in collusion with the ECI. A large crowd has gathered here, and we will strive diligently to combat vote theft.”
When asked about the derogatory slogans directed at the Prime Minister, she reiterated the chant and claimed widespread public discontent with the government. “Everyone is fed up with this Hitler government. This public will amplify its voice, and it will become the final nail in his coffin,” she added, also alleging EVM manipulation.
The incident has further intensified the war of words between the BJP and Congress, with the ruling party accusing the opposition of engaging in divisive and disrespectful politics, while Congress continues to push its allegations against the electoral process and constitutional institutions.
