Guwahati, Dec 19 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that during his forthcoming trip to Assam, he will pay tribute to the martyrs of the significant Assam Movement and take part in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a key fertiliser project in Dibrugarh district.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister indicated that his first stop would be at the Swahid Smarak Kshetra to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Assam Movement, referring to their bravery as a pivotal moment in the state’s history.

PM Modi emphasized that this visit serves as a chance to recognize the valor and dedication of those martyrs who fought for Assam's identity and rights.

Following this, he will head to Namrup in Dibrugarh to perform the Bhoomi Pujan for the Ammonia-Urea Fertiliser Project of the Assam Valley Fertiliser and Chemical Company Limited.

The Prime Minister labeled this initiative as a crucial project that will fulfill the fertiliser needs of Assam and neighboring states.

Additionally, he noted that this project would contribute to decreasing India’s reliance on fertiliser imports, aligning with the vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'.

On Saturday at 3 p.m., PM Modi will arrive in Guwahati, where he will tour and inaugurate the New Terminal Building of Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport.

He is also set to address attendees at this event.

As per an official statement, on Sunday, around 9:45 a.m., Prime Minister Modi will pay homage to the martyrs at Swahid Smarak Kshetra in Boragaon, Guwahati.

Later, he will travel to Namrup in Assam’s Dibrugarh to conduct the Bhoomi Pujan for the Ammonia-Urea Project of the Assam Valley Fertiliser and Chemical Company Limited.

He will also address the attendees at this gathering.

PM Modi will inaugurate the new terminal building of Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati, marking a transformative step forward in Assam’s connectivity, economic growth, and global interaction.

The Prime Minister will visit the Swahid Smarak Kshetra to honor the martyrs of the historic Assam Movement, a six-year-long struggle that reflected the collective determination for a foreigner-free Assam and the safeguarding of the state’s identity.

Later that day, PM Modi will perform the Bhoomi Pujan of the new brownfield Ammonia-Urea Fertiliser Project at Namrup in Dibrugarh, situated within the existing grounds of Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Limited (BVFCL).

This initiative, which involves an estimated investment exceeding Rs 10,600 crore, aims to satisfy fertiliser demands for Assam and neighboring states, lower import dependence, create significant job opportunities, and stimulate regional economic development.

It stands as a cornerstone for industrial resurgence and farmer welfare.
