Gandhinagar, May 23 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set for a two-day visit to his home state of Gujarat starting May 26, where he will unveil the nation's inaugural 9,000 HP Locomotive Engine in Dahod.

During this visit, PM Modi will engage in significant public events across the districts of Gandhinagar, Kutch, and Dahod.

A key highlight of this trip will be the inauguration of India's first high-power locomotive engine, created in Dahod, a groundbreaking initiative developed through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with an estimated investment of Rs 20,000 crore.

This 9000 HP, 6-axle electric engine will operate at an average speed of 75 km/h, with maintenance services located at depots in Kharagpur (West Bengal), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), and Pune (Maharashtra), according to an official announcement.

Following a public rally on Mirzapar Road in Bhuj, PM Modi will pay homage at the esteemed Mata Ashapura Temple in Mata no Madh.

At the Dahod rail production facility, PM Modi will unveil the first of its kind 9,000 horsepower locomotive engine, marking a pivotal moment for India's indigenous rail manufacturing.

In the upcoming decade, the facility aims to produce 1,200 such engines, with aspirations to export globally under the 'Make in India' initiative.

Each locomotive will proudly display the label 'Manufactured by Dahod', representing the town's rise as a national center for heavy rail engineering. These engines can haul up to 4,600 tonnes of cargo and will be the first in Indian rail history to include air-conditioning and toilet facilities for drivers.

Additionally, these locomotives will come equipped with pre-installed collision avoidance systems, thereby enhancing safety and operational efficiency.

Currently, four engines are nearing completion at the Dahod facility.

Officials predict that the Dahod manufacturing plant will create both direct and indirect employment opportunities for over 10,000 individuals in the region.

This project is anticipated to significantly uplift the local economy, opening doors in power supply, mechanical engineering, and infrastructure services. The plant was awarded to a multinational corporation that won the PPP tendering process.

Earlier this month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Gujarat, inaugurating several vital development initiatives.

During his visit, Home Minister Shah laid groundwork and inaugurated multiple schemes focused on urban development, health, and security in cities such as Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
