Jaipur, Sep 24 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Banswara on Thursday to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for development initiatives totaling Rs 1.08 lakh crore.
The centerpiece of this event will be the unveiling of the 2,800 MW Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Project, which is expected to significantly enhance India's energy landscape.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will virtually launch two new Vande Bharat trains connecting Bikaner and Jodhpur to Delhi, along with the Udaipur-Chandigarh Express. During this program, he will also inaugurate various projects across other states.
This marks PM Modi's 16th visit to Rajasthan within a span of 22 months since the BJP government, led by Bhajanlal Sharma, took office in December 2023. His consistent visits underscore the state's political and developmental significance, as noted by officials.
Throughout his tenure, the Prime Minister has actively engaged in major events, including the swearing-in ceremony, eight election rallies, and multiple administrative initiatives. Notably, during the Rajasthan High Court’s Platinum Jubilee in Jodhpur (August 2024), he launched the e-Seva Quick App and laid the foundation for Rising Rajasthan and the ERCP Phase-I in December 2024. His visit to Bikaner in May 2025 was particularly significant, marking the first after Operation Sindoor.
During the event, PM Modi will lay the foundation for several major projects, including the Rs 42,000 crore Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Project. There will also be a 590 MW renewable energy initiative worth Rs 8,500 crore initiated in Bikaner.
To enhance the energy infrastructure, 15.5 GW of power transmission lines will be developed across Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sirohi, Nagaur, and Bikaner at a cost of Rs 13,183 crore. In the water sector, 15 drinking water projects worth ₹5,884 crore will be inaugurated across 11 districts, including Banswara, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Sawai Madhopur, Barmer, Dausa, Churu, Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Sikar.
For improved connectivity and infrastructure, foundations will be laid for two flyovers, a bridge over the Banas River, and 119 Atal Pragati Paths in Bharatpur, with an investment of Rs 878 crore.
Moreover, three 220 kV grid substations and related transmission lines in Bikaner and Jaisalmer will commence, costing Rs 348 crore.
PM Modi will also inaugurate projects ready for public use, including 1,400 MW of solar power initiatives and the 925 MW Nokh Solar Park in Phalodi, developed for Rs 10,710 crore. Additionally, 895 MW of decentralized solar plants under the PM KUSUM-C scheme, valued at Rs 3,132 crore, will be launched. Major irrigation projects such as the Isarda Dam, Dholpur Lift, Battisanala, and others worth Rs 2,365 crore will also be inaugurated.
Road infrastructure will be enhanced with the opening of seven road projects in districts such as Barmer, Ajmer, Beawar, Dungarpur, Bhartrihari Nagar, Banswara, Rajsamand, and Udaipur, built at a cost of Rs 1,758 crore. In the power sector, a 220 kV grid substation and transmission line in Barmer worth Rs 142 crore will be inaugurated. Urban infrastructure will also see an upgrade with sewerage and water supply projects in Didwana-Kuchaman and Jhunjhunu, costing Rs 226 crore.
Additionally, an IT Development and e-Governance Centre worth Rs 140 crore and a 250-bed hospital at RBM Hospital in Bharatpur, constructed for Rs 128 crore, will be dedicated to the public.
Through these initiatives, the Prime Minister aims to significantly enhance infrastructure, renewable energy, irrigation, and connectivity in Rajasthan.
