Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 2 (NationPress) Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju announced on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the ongoing discussion regarding the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address on February 4.
Discussing the lengthy debate commencing today, he revealed that Sarbananda Sonowal will kick off the conversation, which will feature at least five prominent speakers from the BJP. Rijiju criticized the Opposition for their consistent negativity and their unwillingness to recognize the favorable elements of the Union Budget.
“Today, we have five speakers from the BJP, as the total time allocated for discussion spans 18 hours over three days. In this context, the NDA will occupy roughly 55 percent of the discussion time. The motion will be proposed by Sarbananda Sonowal and supported by Tejasvi Surya. Following that, the Leader of the Opposition will present their views. The Prime Minister's response is scheduled for the evening of February 4,” Rijiju stated.
He further noted that the discussion on the Motion of Thanks will be succeeded by a detailed examination of the Union Budget.
“Today marks the start of the motion of thanks to the President’s address; the discussion is slated for three days over 18 hours. Subsequently, we will delve into the budget,” he emphasized.
In a pointed critique of the opposition, Rijiju accused them of willfully neglecting the successes outlined in the budget.
“The opposition seems unwilling to acknowledge the budget's positive aspects. I cannot remedy that. The entire world is observing India’s budget today; it is not solely for Indians—people globally are looking at it,” he remarked.
Contrasting the current government's economic strategy with that of the previous UPA administration, Rijiju highlighted a significant increase in capital expenditure.
“When you compare it to the tenure of the UPA government, there has been a substantial rise in capital expenditure, now estimated at around Rs 12.5 lakh crore,” he noted.
He further accused the Congress of misleading the public with what he termed a “negative mindset” regarding the budget.
“The Congress mentality towards the budget is so pessimistic that they are deceiving the public. The world acknowledges that India is rapidly advancing economically. This is not a falsehood,” Rijiju asserted.
Highlighting India's improving global economic standing, he stated, “The entire world is eager to forge free trade agreements with India. We have transitioned from not exporting mobile phones to reaching new heights. These advancements are what the opposition refuses to acknowledge.”
