Vav-Tharad (Gujarat), March 28 (NationPress) The railway network in Gujarat is on the verge of a major enhancement as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil railway initiatives valued at Rs 891 crore during his upcoming visit to the state on March 31.
These projects, led by the Ministry of Railways, aim to bolster connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and enhance passenger transport services across vital areas.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the projects virtually from Vav-Tharad, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel attending the event.
Officials emphasized that “these railway ventures signify a crucial move towards the modernization of rail infrastructure and fostering regional development in Gujarat.”
Among the prominent initiatives, the Prime Minister will launch a 55-km new railway line connecting Himmatnagar and Khedbrahma, developed at an investment of Rs 482 crore.
This project is anticipated to substantially enhance connectivity in the Sabarkantha district, ensuring quicker and more cost-effective travel.
Additionally, it will establish direct railway access between Ahmedabad and Udaipur.
“This initiative is expected to improve access to critical services such as healthcare and education, as well as open up new employment opportunities for local communities,” officials mentioned.
Moreover, PM Modi will also inaugurate the 27-km Kanalus–Jamnagar doubling project, constructed at a cost of Rs 257 crore, along with the 11-km Gandhidham–Adipur multi-tracking project.
The state government has indicated that these projects will facilitate “faster and smoother” train operations and enable more efficient freight services.
Enhanced connectivity to key industrial zones, including Deendayal Port, is also on the horizon, along with positive implications for local tourism.
During the event, the Prime Minister will initiate a new train service from Khedbrahma to Ahmedabad (Asarwa) via Himmatnagar.
With this new service, “travel for residents in the area will become quicker and more convenient” and will “stimulate local economic growth.”
In line with a broader strategy, officials remarked: “In accordance with the Prime Minister’s vision, multiple initiatives have been launched to modernize and enhance the efficiency of Indian Railways. Ongoing efforts have been made to improve the travel experience for citizens by ensuring last-mile connectivity.”
They further noted that these initiatives are expected to “encourage inclusive growth and strengthen the Indian economy.”
