Chandigarh, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Punjab BJP's working President Ashwani Sharma and the party's national General Secretary Tarun Chugh expressed their heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for the allocation of Rs 1,463.95 crore towards the development of a six-lane greenfield spur on National Highway 205-A (connecting the Ambala-Chandigarh section to the Zirakpur bypass) as part of the Tricity Ring Road Project.
Sharma described this initiative as a groundbreaking project that will greatly alleviate the persistent traffic congestion in the tricity area, which includes Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. He highlighted that it would not only facilitate smoother transportation but also boost economic activities in the surrounding regions.
He went on to explain that the construction of the six-lane greenfield spur will provide quicker and more seamless access to Himachal Pradesh, especially to Shimla. Improvements in road safety and reductions in pollution levels will enhance the quality of life for residents.
Sharma remarked that this world-class infrastructure endeavor would propel Punjab towards significant development. He asserted that once a “double-engine” government is established in Punjab, the rate of progress will increase dramatically, leading to the realization of a truly “developed Punjab.”
Echoing these sentiments, General Secretary Chugh noted that this decision is a pivotal step in fortifying Punjab's infrastructure landscape. He stated that the project promises long-awaited relief from congestion at critical intersections in Mohali, Chandigarh, and Panchkula.
The strain on NH-44, NH-205A, and NH-152 will be significantly alleviated, while travel to Himachal Pradesh, particularly the Shimla area, will become swifter and more efficient.
Chugh underscored that this initiative represents a broader vision for regional connectivity and integrated development.
Moreover, he pointed out that the corridor will greatly benefit various sectors including industry, trade, tourism, and logistics. Farmers, traders, entrepreneurs, and youth will gain from enhanced transportation effectiveness, reduced travel durations, and lower fuel usage. This project aims to transform the tricity region into a more organized and growth-focused urban area.
Chugh concluded by stating that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, Punjab continues to experience dedicated infrastructure growth.
“The Central Government remains committed to turning policy into real development on the ground, ensuring lasting prosperity for the state,” he added.
