Chandigarh, Jan 25 (NationPress) The Governor of Punjab revealed the names of Punjab Police officers and officials to receive the ‘Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak’ award and ‘Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Devotion to Duty’ during the Republic Day celebrations.

The Governor honored four personnel from Police Post Jaijon in Hoshiarpur: ASI Manna Singh, ASI Rajinder Singh, woman Senior Constable Kulwinder Kaur, and Home Guard Gurdeep Singh, who will receive the Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak award.

The police team was instrumental in rescuing Deepak Kumar after his Innova car flipped over and was swept away while attempting to cross the Jajjon Khad river in Hoshiarpur district on August 11, 2024.

Additionally, Senior Constable Gurpreet Singh from the CID Unit Ludhiana will also be honored with the Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak award for saving a man from drowning in the Sirhind Canal after a suicide attempt triggered by a dispute with his newlywed wife on August 29, 2024.

Moreover, eight Punjab Police Service (PPS) officers, including Navreet Singh Virk, Jasmeet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Parampal Singh, Digvijay Kapil, Avneet Kaur Sidhu, Harinder Singh, and Samar Pal Sighh, are among the 19 officials selected for the Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Devotion to Duty.

The other awardees include Inspectors Pran Nath, Pritpal Singh, Sukhmandar Singh, and Manphul Singh; Sub-Inspectors Rajesh Kumar, Parminder Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma, and Sumeet Aery; Assistant Sub-Inspector Harpal Singh; Head Constable Mukhjit Singh; and Constable Simranjit Singh.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav congratulated the awardees and expressed gratitude to the government for acknowledging the contributions of Punjab Police officers and officials. He noted that such recognitions significantly motivate the police force to serve with greater commitment and diligence.
