Patna, Nov 2 (NationPress) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi engaged in fishing activities in Bihar's Begusarai district shortly after delivering a speech at a public rally. While casting his line in a local pond, the Congress MP connected with the fishermen community, attentively listening to their concerns and gaining insight into the difficulties faced in their profession.

Accompanying him was Mukesh Sahani, Chief of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and the Mahagathbandhan's candidate for Deputy Chief Minister.

During this intimate interaction with the fishermen, Rahul Gandhi informed them of the coalition's electoral commitments, which feature a ₹5,000 aid to fishing families during off-seasons, a fisheries insurance scheme, and initiatives aimed at rejuvenating rivers and ponds.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had addressed an election rally, where he strongly criticized both the state and central governments.

He remarked that the people of Bihar achieve recognition abroad, yet their living conditions remain dire at home.

He attributed their plight to the ruling government, accusing it of obstructing several developmental projects initiated by the UPA administrations, including the revival of Nalanda University.

"Bihar's residents migrate to other states, where they toil and contribute to those regions' progress. If they can build a city like Dubai with their labor, why can't they transform Bihar?" he questioned.

"The failure lies with the BJP-JDU government, which has denied opportunities to the people. Our UPA government began restoring prestigious institutions like Nalanda, but the current administration has dismantled everything," he added.

He also criticized the ruling body for failing to address issues like paper leaks, which have tarnished the state's reputation and jeopardized the future of its youth.

Rahul Gandhi committed to overhauling the education sector if the grand alliance secures power in the state.

"We will establish a university that attracts students from around the globe. The residents here are industrious and have the potential to contribute positively to the world," he stated.

"We have devised a 'special manifesto' for the extremely backward classes, which we intend to implement. We will progress together, ensuring that no one is left behind. Supporting small businesses will be our focus," he concluded.
